Don’t forget what President Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress did in 2010 – and tell everybody who will listen! And if they do not get outraged, then they are sleeping under a rock and they can’t get out.
Pure politicians have for years depended on voters to forget their misdeeds leading up to the next election. But things are different! Voters are not as stupid and uninformed as they used to be. People are more informed and aware of the arrogance of the current administration and Congress than ever before.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said they needed to pass the health care deform bill first, so they can then tell us what’s in the bill. They passed it and we now know what’s in the bill: An assault on our liberties, increased taxes through fines and an unprecedented expansion of government bureaucracy in our lives. Don’t forget!
The president’s insistence on passing the Health Care deform bill against the will of the majority of the American people was a historic presidential slap in the face of the people. Poll after poll had confirmed that the people did not like this government takeover of our health care system, but the president and the Democrat-controlled Congress did it anyway. Don’t forget!
Let’s not forget that the House passed the Cap and Trade and Tax and Kill bill. After which, we found out that the so-called science behind the bill was false and had been manipulated for a political agenda. The Senate did not even take up the bill because they knew that it was dead on arrival.
Let’s not forget that Senator Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut) and Representative Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts) were negligent in their oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which were the catalysts for the financial meltdown of 2008 and 2009. They then went on to author the atrocious Financial Regulatory deform bill, which excluded Fannie and Freddie from so-called new and improved oversight provisions.
Let’s not forget that this administration and Democrat-controlled Congress increased the national debt by nearly $4 trillion in two years. This is the same increase in debt during the Bush administration in eight years.
Let’s not forget that this administration and Congress authorized over $860 billion in stimulus spending, which did not stimulate anything except voter outrage. The president and his economic advisors even said that it would keep the unemployment rate under 8 percent. It’s been over 9 percent ever since.
Let’s not forget the promises of transparency. Didn’t happen! Let’s not forget the promise of “the most ethical Congress in history” by Speaker Pelosi. Didn’t happen! (Can we say Representative Charlie Rangel and Representative Maxine Waters?)
Let’s not forget that Obama promised to focus on the economy in his February 2010 State of the Union address, but during his congratulatory speech to himself after signing the DADT legislation on December 22, 2010, he promised once again to focus on growing the economy. I thought the stimulus spending bill, cash for clunkers, cash for caulkers and cash for air were supposed to stimulate the economy and lower the unemployment rate. They did not! Don’t forget.
Extending the tax rates for everybody for two years, and reducing the worker’s portion of the payroll tax by two percentage points for one year are now supposed to stimulate the economy. They might tickle the economy, but don’t expect a surge in economic growth.
In 2010 we got more debt, more government, more broken promises and an anemic economy.
We will not forget.
